Viking has an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Manager Netherlands to join our European organisation in the Netherlands. The role is a full-time, permanent position for which you will be mostly working from home with occasional visits to the Venlo headquarters.

Your role as a Business Development Manager

You will become responsible for winning new business opportunities in the Netherlands and you will work closely together with 2 other New Business Development Managers (DACH region and UK / Ireland) for any international/crossborder clients that require a combined approach.

As this job will mostly focus (+/- 80% of the time) on new business opportunities, you will be in the lead for developing a sales plan for the Netherlands; also generating sales leads in cooperation with other departments. After implementation, delivery, and evaluation of new clients; also arrange handovers to Account Management in order to generate revenues with new clients (€300k+). Except for individual accounts, to be defined which remain in the responsibility of the Business Development Manager.

  • Develop, manage, and ensure the realization of the business development plan / budget (min €750k invoiced
    revenue p.a) for the assigned market / area
  • Build and maintain a network of in- and external stakeholders / partners and represent the Viking organization
  • Approach potential clients and collect, interpret, and analyze potential clients’ needs and requests and assess
    whether the organization can be supportive in fulfilling these needs and / or requests
  • Formulate a solution, in conjunction with other departments in the organization, and prepare the proposals to
    potential clients (€300k+ p.a. both local and international)
  • Determine a negotiation approach and negotiate with potential clients for goods and / or services in the assigned
    area, within the provided mandate
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure timelines and deliverables are met and evaluate sales and
    delivery process with clients, in conjunction with Account Management

What do you need to be successful in this role

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sales and at least 3 years of relevant experience in Account Management / New Business
  • Complex sales selling skills, understanding very complex customer structures, complex groups of buying
    influences and their unique buying reasons, both local and international. Knowledge of the Miller Heiman
    methodology (blue and gold sheet)
  • Native Dutch language skills are required, combined with excellent English language skills, spoken, and written
  • Commercial, with a proactive, strong customer focus and customer awareness
  • Experience with making and analyzing a Cost to Serve (CTS) calculations
  • Network in (very) large organizations and a proven track record in successful sales in the top segment of the
    market. Ability to build and maintain relationships on C-level
  • CRM knowledge and the discipline to keep track of input
